Isaac's Birthday at the Zoo

This year for Isaac's birthday, we took one last trip to the Detroit Zoo.  It was kinda a bummer for Mommy to not be able to have a party for him, but with moving in 3 days..that just wasn't feasible.  It ended up being a great family day.  We all enjoyed God's creation and getting a break from the packing.  It was a great day to celebrate a wonderful member of our family!

Isaac loves his independence.  There were very few people at the zoo that day, he was able to just run and run.
Isaac and Sissy eager to see the polar bears

 brr...cold walls
We had to get a pic of Hannah with the zebras in her zebra dress

That evening we celebrated with cake and ice cream...the cake might have been store bought this year, but it was very yummy...and Isaac was SO excited!
Loving to hear us sing to him

Happy Birthday, Isaac Michael!  We love you!!

Our little "Ikey" is Two!

I know I always say this...but it's so hard to believe that my baby is 2!  Seems like just yesterday that I was rocking him in my arms.  Now is a busy little boy!  We adore Isaac and thank God for the blessing that he is!

Here are some fun facts about our little two year old:
  • He is a little chatter box.  He easily holds a conversation now and knows many words.  It's so much fun to talk to him!
  • He is a parrot...he repeats almost everything that his sister says
  • He is learning to pray.  Right now, a common prayer sounds like this:  "Dear Jesus, thank you for Daddy, Mommy, Sissy, then he names some other people...depending on the day, and then repeats Daddy, Mommy, Sissy several more times"...it's too cute.
  • He loves Sandra Boyton books
  • He loves Thomas the Tank...he enjoys watching him on TV and playing with trains.  Our new library has a Thomas train table...today when we pulled up to the library, he said "I play with Thomas!"
  • He will play with playdough for hours (which was super helpful when  I was packing for the move :))
  • He's eats all day long and usually eats really good at either breakfast or lunch.  He LOVES oatmeal, fish crackers, hotdogs, yogurt, and grapes.
  • He is a daddy's boy through and through.  Isaac has always been clinging..when it's just mommy during the day, he wants me...but when daddy get's home...he wants his daddy.  :)
  • He loves animals.  We took him to the zoo for his birthday, which he loved.  He pronuciates all of his words so well that when something isn't quite right, it sounds so cute.  He calls monkeys "bonkeys"  :)
  • His favorite songs are Holy, Holy, Holy, The Itsy Bitsy Spider and You are my Sunshine.
  • He loves his blankie...he pulls "fuzz" from his blankie and twills it between his fingers.  We find "blankie fuzz" everywhere...sometimes even in his ear...silly boy!

Here's my extremely handsome little 2 year old.  Trenda took his pictures for me on his birthday, just 3 days before we moved.  We were thrilled to be able to fit it in.  To see the rest of his 2 year old pics check out her blog here.

Hello Eloise!

It's always a joy to see godly families grow.  Jeff and Amber are wonderful, godly parents...we are thrilled to see their little family growing and we eagerly welcomed Eloise into the world.  This sweet little bundle was born on September 9th, less than a week before our scheduled move day.  We prayed that she would come before we moved.  We were all so happy to be able to meet her in the hospital.  I saw her a few more times during that week.  I sure wish that I could be there with her to watch her grow in person, but God knew all of these things, and we are trusting in his perfect plan.  Now check out the pics...isn't she precious?!

Isaac loves babies....and Eloise is special.  He's been watching her grow in Ms. Amber's tummy for a long time...he was VERY excited to see her.  He kept climbing up on  Amber's bed to stare into her precious face.
Hannah was very excited to be able to hold baby Eloise
Children are blessings from above!

Happy Birthday, Gran!

Today is Gran's birthday.  I didn't get a card in the mail on time, but I think this may have turned out to be even better than a card...we'll see what Gran thinks :)  Thought since I actually took the time to download a video that I would share the cuteness with anyone else who is interested.  :)  Happy Birthday, Gran!!

Microwave Puff Paint

The kids had fun painting with microwave puff paint...a fun recipe that I found in family fun magazine.
We mixed up different colors and went to work (they are painting with Q-tips)

Hannah had so much fun microwaving her picture and seeing the results
Microwavable Puffy Paint
Source: Family Fun (www.familyfun.com)
Mix for each color
1 Tbs. flour
1 Tbs. salt
1 Tbs. baking powder
2 Tbs. plus 1 or 2 tsp. of water
Several drops of food coloring
Stir until smooth. Apply paint to card stock (works the best) – all we had was construction paper (it worked fine but the edges curled up in the microwave). To dry and make the paint puff up, put the artwork in the microwave for 20 seconds. Keep adding 10 seconds at a time until dry.

Seth's Birthday

one person for each candle :)
Seth wanted vanilla cake with vanilla frosting.  To make it a little more interesting I made homemade vanilla with butter cream frosting...yum!

Happy Birthday, babe!
