My Little Book Worm

Hannah has been reading since she was a toddler...but I'm still amazed to watch and listen to her.  It's amazing to see her love for reading grow with every book.  This summer she is devouring the Magic Tree House series.  She insists on reading them in order, and I can't keep up with her. We get a stack out from the library and before I know it she's asking for more.  She's been reading about one a day.  If we are home for rest time...she'll disappear into her room and come out a couple hours later having read the whole book.  She also loves to read God's Word and is faithful to have devotions using her Wonderbook each day.  It's amazing to see how much they can learn about God and the world he created once they start reading!

Hannah's Last Day of Kindergarten

Here's my baby getting ready for her last day of school as a kindergartener.  She told me that she wished it was her first day of school and not her last.  We are so thankful that she had a great experience for her first year of school.  We are thankful for her teacher, school, and school district.  God was good to place us here.  We are excited to have her home for summer...many adventures to come.  Happy Summer!

Hannah's First Date

...and it was with her Daddy!
They are all dressed up for a Daddy/Daughter date at Chic-Fil-A
She is blessed to have a wonderful Daddy who loves Jesus and his family.  The daddy/daughter relationship is special for sure..I'm glad that they have such a strong bond already and pray that it will only grow over the years.  This was the first of many more dates together.  :)

First Night of Cubbies

Our first Sunday at our new church happened to also be the first Sunday of AWANA.  We were excited that Hannah was able to be here for the first night and hit the ground running.  She was very excited to pull out her Cubbie vest and book and get started with a new year!

Our Little Cubbie

Our little Cubbie just completed (well..back in May ;)) her first year of AWANA.  She loved Cubbies and looked forward to it all week long.  Hannah had so much fun...but more important than that, she learned more about God and His Word.  She learned all 22 verses in her Hopper Book, and by the end of the year she was reading her verse card and memorizing the verses on her own.  It's so neat to see her hunger and enthusiasm for Gods Word, something that her Daddy and I pray will continue through the rest of her life.
Here's Hannah with all of her patches ironed on and ready for awards night.
Here is Mr. Pherson and our AWANA club at the awards ceremony.
Not only was it Hannah's first year of Cubbies, but mine as well.  It wasn't my plan to work in AWANA this year...but it was God's plan.  I LOVED every minute of working with these little ones!  It was neat to see them soak up God's Word.  They were a blessing to my life each week...it was also a blessing to get to serve side by side with an amazing woman and my dear friend, Julia.  God is good!

"But Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.'" Matthew 19:14 ESV

A Word Building Machine

She constantly amazes me!  It's so fun to sit with her and give her word after word to build.  She's a pro!

Our Big 4-Year Old!

It seems impossible that our baby girl is 4 years old!  What joy she brings to our lives!  Everyday is full of fun and adventures with Hannah around.

As always, here's a little of what she has been up to this year and some of the things she loves:
This year, I'm starting a tradition of "20 Questions".  Each year at her birthday, I'm going to ask her these 20 questions and keep them in her Life Story Binder.  Thought I'd share her answers:
1. What is your favorite color? blue
2. What is your favorite toy? balls
3. What is your favorite fruit? apples
4. What is your favorite tv show? Word World
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? peanut butter and jelly
6. What is your favorite outfit? Hello Kitty shirt
7. What is your favorite game? Guess Who
8. What is your favorite snack? cookies
9. What is your favorite animal? zebras
10. What is your favorite song? Ladi Da (Grace- Eph. 2:8 from Seeds Family Worship)
11. What is your favorite book? The Bible
12. Who is your best friend? Milan
13. What is your favorite cereal? Rice Crispies
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Blow bubbles
15. What is your favorite drink? juice
16. What is your favorite holiday? Trick or Treat
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Blankie
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Toast
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Homemade Macaroni and Cheese
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? a teenager

Some of these answers crack me up...and some of them were just true of that day, but many were accurate :)  Here are some more details:
-she still loves her Bible...her favorite Bible story seems to always change.  Right now, she loves the story of Samson and the Good Samaritan.
-She loves tv and playing on the computer and would do it all day if I would let her (I don't, she has time limits :)).  Her favorite shows are Dr. Suess, Super Why, and Word World.  She loves to play www.pbskids.com, www.starfall.com, and www.veggiestales.com.
-She loves anything artsy...coloring, painting, cutting with scissors, etc.
-She is learning to read...and doing quite well.  She knows LOTS of sight words and is pretty good at decoding CVC words.  (She also knows all of her letters and sounds)
-Hannah counts to 14...she loves to count higher...but always misses that 15.  :)
- she LOVES to pretend.  She loves to act out Bible stories, books, movies or pretend whatever comes to her mind.  She loves to play doctor and house.  She has a great memory and imagination!
-She loves music..one of my favorite things is listening to her sing in the car.
Boy I love this little girl...I could go on and on about her.  Looking forward to having a 4 year old..we have so much fun together!

Morning Breakfast with her "Lovies"

One morning, Hannah decided that she was going to host breakfast her her "lovies" in Isaac's room.
She wanted me to be sure to get a picture of her with Nemo and Brutus.

I love watching her imagination develop and her creative juices flow.  I love being home with her each day and enjoying the simple things...like eating breakfast on the floor with stuffed animals :)

Fishing with Daddy

I think I'm going to give up on trying to catch up and just start fresh today.  I may do some "rewind posts" here and there.  But the purpose of my blog is to keep our family in tune with what we are doing and what the kids are up too..not what they were up to 2 months ago :)  I do love having the record of the kids growth on here...so hopefully I'll catch up someday.  But it sure is harder to keep up with a blog with two little ones to care for, so we'll see :)

Anyway,  TODAY....Hannah got to have a morning date with her Daddy.  They went to a fishing derby at a local park.  Although they didn't catch any fish, they sure had fun being together.  Hannah loves getting to ride in Daddy's car and just hang out with him. Here are some pics that they took from their morning.

Let's Go Fly A Kite

Kite flying was first time experience for Hannah that she had been looking forward to all summer.  We happened upon a princess kite brand new at a garage sale and had been saving it for the perfect day.  This was a beautiful breezy summer day.  We were in Ohio visiting family...so we went for a walk with Grandma and found this open field to fly a kite in.  It was almost too windy...but we got it up.  Hannah had so much fun!
