First Day of First Grade & Preschool

It's hard to believe it's this time already!  I'm thankful, though for the wonderful summer we had, for Hannah's new teacher and for the blessing of being in good school district.  The transition to 1st grade was a whole lot easier for Hannah and for Momma.  She popped right out of bed in the morning and was ready to go!  She LOVES her school!

An apple for her teacher
My beautiful little girl ready for 1st grade.  She wants to be a scientist when she grows up.

Isaac loves her so much and is so proud of her.

She picked a "littlest petshop" backpack this year.
So fun to get to school and see familiar faces.  Look at those smiles!
 BIG hugs from Isaac!

Now...Isaacs turn.  I'm excited to get to do 4 year old preschool with him at home...he's pretty excited too!  On his first day, we went to a kinderealm and learned all about nighttime animals...he loved it!  We also set up his calendar binder and started reviewing letters and sounds.  When Isaac grows up he wants to be a construction worker. :)

A Day in Amish Country

We have friends from MI that moved to amish country a little bit before we moved.  We had been wanting to visit them, and this past summer we had the chance.  We met up for dinner and visited a farm in amish country.  The kids had so much fun.
There was a great petting farm..the kids loved feeding the animals
Isaac went for his first pony ride by himself and he actually liked it!
 Hannah our little cowgirl

After they rode, they got to give their horse a treat

Hannah loved holding the baby puppies

Fun to reconnect with friends :)
These girlies hid under the table and played cards...too cute.

Isaac's Big Boy Bed

What's this?  I'm actually making a blog post?!  I debated if I should skip ahead to today or keep plugging through the summer.  I decided to try to work my way through the summer posts.
Anyway, back in June we moved Isaac to his big boy bed and then started working on transforming his nursery from classic pooh to a big boy vintage toy themed room.  We had this bed given to us and it's been in storage for years.  It was good that it even made it through the move because it works perfectly for Isaac's big boy room.  I saw some red bed on pinterest and knew that would be perfect for our Ikey.  The red that we used is actually the same color that is on the walls in my sisters family room.  How handy that they had a whole extra can of paint to share?!

Head board and foot board before
 and after...

He was VERY excited about his big boy bed!
It's amazing how all of a sudden they look so much bigger in a bed!

Of course, Hannah wanted in on the excitement...she was excited too!

The transition was fairly easy.  He loved his bed and did not get out right away.  Now, several month later, we struggle at bed time...he tends to get up once or twice before settling in for the night.  But he does love his bed and does pretty well.

Strawberry Pickin'

Still so behind.  This was our first mom and kids playdate with the kiddos from church.  We went strawberry picking and had so much fun.  If you can't tell from the pictures...the kids may have ate just as many strawberries as they picked.  :)
