Trunk & Treat

We enjoyed taking part in Trunk & Treat at our church this year.  The weather was cold and rainy, so we moved inside.  The kids had a great time and we enjoyed the chance to reach out to the community and share the gospel message with those who came.

Halloween 2012

Our town had Trick or Treating the Thursday before Halloween.  We were much earlier than everyone else, but the weather was the best ever!  It was 74 degrees and sunny...perfect for a wagon ride and trick or treating!
Here are my little trick or treaters!
My sweet little butterfly and silly little elephant :)

Pumpkin Carving

We had so much fun carving pumpkins together.  Our trick or treating at our new house was early, so pumpkin carving was too...we were glad to have nice warm weather to enjoy!

Hannah was so excited...here are some of her brainstorming sketches (including a picture of the Holy Bible).
It was so nice outside that we were able to take the messiness to our back patio :)

Hannah wanted a Hello Kitty pumpkin, and Isaac wanted Cookie Monster...good thing their Daddy is an artist :)
We sorted and cleaned pumpkin seeds as we pulled them out.  We dried them and roasted them.  This is the recipe we used ans we all agreed they were the best pumpkin seeds we've ever had!

A Fall Family Weekend

We enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend with my family.  The kids enjoyed dressing up in their costumes on several occasions.  We started out at a grocery store for trick or treating.

Best shot I could get of all 3 cousins
Hannah was thrilled to see Cheer Bear there
This was my birthday weekend.  My request was to be with my family.  It's been a while since I've been with them on my birthday....so it was a treat for sure.  On Saturday, Beth and Adam watched the kids so Seth and I could go out for dinner.  We went to a Japanese steak house...the food was wonderful!  On Sunday we had birthday dinner (thanks Beth) and were able to celebrate some of the November birthdays too.
It's hard to believe that Ethan will be two this week!  He's growing so fast...it's so much fun to watch.  He's learning more and more words and expresses himself so well.  He knows and loves each member of the family...it's so cute!  Hannah loves her cousin and they played SO well together!!  She had so much fun decorating his present.  Didn't she do a great job writing his name?  She did it all by herself...I just told her the letters.
 Ethan loved his zoo set.
We ended up joining Ethan for trick or treating on Sunday evening.  We loved watching Adam and Beth use this as an opportunity to spend a few minutes with each of their neighbors.  They introduced themselves to the ones that they hadn't met and reconnected with others.  I was even surprised to see my high school chemistry teacher :)
our little flounder...he rode in the wagon holding candy in his hands the whole time.
Ethan loved this puppy.  But both his mom and dad agree...that it's best to just enjoy someone else's pet :)
 what a life...

Pumpkin Carving

Hannah wanted to carve a sad pumpkin this year.  Daddy did his best to make a pumpkin face that was sad for Hannah but still cute for Mommy.  It turned out pretty cute, and we had fun doing it!

Excited to get started!
She did not want to put her hand in...Daddy finally helped her be brave...
 Isaac's turn
he liked playing with the insides and the seeds

Isaac does this knee sit often.  He likes to bring a book and plop right on our knee....it was cute to see him get interested in what Hannah and Daddy were doing.  He walked over and plopped right down on Daddy's knee.

Halloween 2010

This year we enjoyed trick-or-treating on our own street. We just took the kids up and down the street. Hannah did a great job saying trick-or-treat. Everyone loved talking to her.

thank you Daddy for leaving one pile of leaves for our photo opt. :)

and she's off!!

it didn't take Isaac long to fall asleep.

this is one very happy trick-or-treater. We got back just in time to put the light on and pass out candy for a while. What a fun filled evening!
