My Little Construction Worker is 4!

Isaac has recently been fascinated with construction workers and their vehicles.  He was very excited about a Construction themed birthday party.  It was so much fun for both of us to plan!
love the birthday banner?  Find the free printable here
I can't believe he's 4!!

I think this was the easiest birthday cake I've done yet...and I love how it turned out :)
some of the construction treats...we had these along with pizza.
Free printables make party planning so much easier....I'm thankful for other moms that share! For these printable food tags go here

We started the party with books about constuction workers and construction vehicles.
Instead of games...we had construction worker centers outside.  I love that we can go out for parts of his birthday.  For four year old boys (and a preggo momma) this worked out perfectly!

The wrecking ball station was probably the favorite.  Here's Hannah carefully building a building to tear down...
Mr. Eric helped build and re-build many buildings!
love the expectation on their faces here...

I love all the happiness in this picture!

Isaac's friends were so kind and generous to him.  He invited 4 friends (one for each year of life :))...and all boys.  He wanted this to be a BOYS party.  Here he is with each of his friends:

So thankful for my sweet little boy!  What JOY he brings to our lives everyday!!!

Found several of my printable construction signs here.  I didn't get a picture of it, but Hannah and Isaac esp loved the porta potty sign on the bathroom door.

Isaac's Big Boy Bed

What's this?  I'm actually making a blog post?!  I debated if I should skip ahead to today or keep plugging through the summer.  I decided to try to work my way through the summer posts.
Anyway, back in June we moved Isaac to his big boy bed and then started working on transforming his nursery from classic pooh to a big boy vintage toy themed room.  We had this bed given to us and it's been in storage for years.  It was good that it even made it through the move because it works perfectly for Isaac's big boy room.  I saw some red bed on pinterest and knew that would be perfect for our Ikey.  The red that we used is actually the same color that is on the walls in my sisters family room.  How handy that they had a whole extra can of paint to share?!

 and after...

He was VERY excited about his big boy bed!
It's amazing how all of a sudden they look so much bigger in a bed!

Of course, Hannah wanted in on the excitement...she was excited too!

The transition was fairly easy.  He loved his bed and did not get out right away.  Now, several month later, we struggle at bed time...he tends to get up once or twice before settling in for the night.  But he does love his bed and does pretty well.

Oatmeal!

It makes me crazy how BIG my baby boy is getting.  He looks so grown up in this picture.  Isaac still LOVES his oatmeal!  He asks for it every morning...without fail.  He loves to help make it too.  Here he is with a bag of brown sugar and a bag of raisins...ready to make it yummy!  When I'm on the ball, I like to keep these oatmeal packets on hand to make the mornings go a little more smoothly.

Puppy Love

Ever since our move, this Puppy has gone everywhere with Isaac.  This is the first "lovey" that he chose for himself (aside for his beloved blankie).  He doesn't go anywhere without Puppy.  They play together, snuggle together, travel together, and get tucked into bed together at night.  At bedtime, Isaac lays on his back and lays Puppy face up on his chest.  Then we cover Isaac and Puppy together...it's pretty cute.  Anyway, Kimberly gave Isaac his Puppy on our moving day (she gave Hannah a pink kitty who she affectionately calls Caterina).  Isaac and Hannah held their Puppy and Kitty the whole drive to our new home and haven't let go since. Both were former stuffed animals of Kimberly's...it was such a sweet "good-bye" gift that she gave them...and I think it helped make their transition a little bit smoother....they haven't let go of them since.  :)

Isaac's Birthday at the Zoo

This year for Isaac's birthday, we took one last trip to the Detroit Zoo.  It was kinda a bummer for Mommy to not be able to have a party for him, but with moving in 3 days..that just wasn't feasible.  It ended up being a great family day.  We all enjoyed God's creation and getting a break from the packing.  It was a great day to celebrate a wonderful member of our family!

Isaac loves his independence.  There were very few people at the zoo that day, he was able to just run and run.

Happy Birthday, Isaac Michael!  We love you!!
