Hannah loved her
Binki. It was a source of comfort to her even while she was in the middle of sleep. The process of saying "good-bye" to her
Binki started long ago. First, with not having
Binki in public (she would leave it in the
cup holder of her
car seat). Then...just at home...and finally just in her bed at
nap time and bedtime. It's been that way for a while...but at 3 years old, it was well past time to say "good-bye" for good. We talked to Dr.
Bullach at her 3 year well child visit and he confirmed that it was time (it was nice for her to hear it from someone else to :)) but he said that we could wait until after Easter. We decided to do that, after all the family had gone home and Easter was over...we were ready. We had been gearing up for it, and one day she came to me and told me that she was ready to give her
binki's to baby Clara. So..that's just what we did. Our friends Jeff and Amber just had a baby...so the opportunity was perfect. Hannah was able to give something that she loved very much to her new little friend. She packed them up in a box
and painted it and decorated it with lots of love and care...
and we delivered them to Clara.
The first night was hard...she was genuinely SO sad. It broke my heart...
The days after that were much better...still a little crying, but nothing that was uncontrollable. And after a few days....wouldn't you know it...she never asked again (okay...one time weeks and weeks later).
We are thankful that the process went so smoothly and now they are gone...she's growing up so fast!
