My Little Book Worm

Hannah has been reading since she was a toddler...but I'm still amazed to watch and listen to her.  It's amazing to see her love for reading grow with every book.  This summer she is devouring the Magic Tree House series.  She insists on reading them in order, and I can't keep up with her. We get a stack out from the library and before I know it she's asking for more.  She's been reading about one a day.  If we are home for rest time...she'll disappear into her room and come out a couple hours later having read the whole book.  She also loves to read God's Word and is faithful to have devotions using her Wonderbook each day.  It's amazing to see how much they can learn about God and the world he created once they start reading!

Our New (to us) Swingset

I found a swing set on a facebook swap page for a deal we couldn't pass up.  Daddy was truly the hero though.  He went and disassembled it, brought it home, and put it all back together in our backyard.  The kids were just thrilled.  It was the perfect "Happy Summer" gift for them.  They have already gotten so much use out of it.  It's been a blessing to them and so fun for us to watch them play and giggle on it.  We thank God for providing this treat for some extra summer fun. :)

Fast forward to 20 weeks

At 20 weeks we had our ultrasound, but found out a little bit differently this time.  We wanted to know ahead of time, but still wanted to do something different.  A gender reveal party with our family was the perfect solution.  It was so much fun and I'm so glad we did it this way.

The ultrasound revealed a healthy little baby. We took Hannah and Isaac with us for the u/s.  Their favorite part was seeing the baby kick it's feet and going back through all the pictures at the end.

The u/s tech put the gender in and envelope and we took it home with us.  It sat in my purse for several days while we waited for family to come into town for memorial day.  It wasn't hard at first, but the closer it got to the reveal..the more anxious and excited I got.

 So excited...
We were thrilled to have both of our families here to celebrate with us.
Team blue
 ...and team pink

 it's a....
GIRL!!!

 I was so, so surprised!

Everyone wore the color that matched the gender they thought.  I shared old wives tales and we kept a tally of how many for each gender.
 all things pink and blue...

Hannah's Last Day of Kindergarten

Here's my baby getting ready for her last day of school as a kindergartener.  She told me that she wished it was her first day of school and not her last.  We are so thankful that she had a great experience for her first year of school.  We are thankful for her teacher, school, and school district.  God was good to place us here.  We are excited to have her home for summer...many adventures to come.  Happy Summer!

Catching up..and Exciting News for our Family

What does a mom do when she is over a year behind on her families blog?  ....stop trying to catch up, skip ahead, and try to stay caught up.  So, here goes nothing...we'll try to stay caught up (somewhat) this time.

I decided to start with the newest and most exciting news....

In March..we announced that our family is growing and baby #3 is on the way!  Due to arrive at the beginning of October.  We are all so very excited and can't wait to meet this little one and become a family of 5!

We told the kids by giving each one of them a big brother/big sister shirt to wear to the hospital.  It took them a while to figure it out...but once they did...they were super excited!

We framed the pic above for our parents and that's how we share the news with the grandparents.  Such a fun and exciting time for sure!
